ILS 5th grader wins bronze medal at Russian sport dance competition

ILS 5th grader Taisia Yurova (section 5M1) was among the prize winners at the Russian Sport Dance competition, performing in the category “Children 2+1”, E-class.

Together with her partner Oleg Timoshenko, Taisia successfully performed six dances: slow waltz, Vienna waltz, quickstep, samba, cha-cha-cha, and jive.

“I trained a lot for the competition and was nervous,” Taisia admits. “The tournament included children from all around the country. Everyone wanted to be a winner, so third place was a good result for me.”

Taisia has been doing ballroom sport dance for four years, with Oleg as her partner for the past two.

“I like Latin dance most of all,” says Taisia, “but I have to learn many other kinds as well. Now, were getting ready for the Primorye regional ballroom sport dance competition, which will be held in December.”

“Sport, art, dance, music – all creative activities are important for our students,” explains ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. “Creative work helps to develop a rich inner world, non-standard thinking, and good taste.”
