A team of ILS students led by Chemistry and Biology teacher Lilia Lvova and Informatics teacher Anton Glupak took top spots at the 3rd International Conference "Young researcher" held at Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea.

Tenth grader Veronika Zhandarmova's work "Growing crystals" was proclaimed best in the "Natural sciences" category, while in the "Informatics and Robotics" category, first prize went to the paper "The use of augmented reality technology in the educational process" presented by 9th graders MIkhail Zelensky and Mikhail Lazarev.

"It was a great pleasure to be named among the winners," says Veronika. "My teacher and I were very serious about how we prepared the research, we performed experiments, and analyzed the results. All the hard work paid off, and my paper took first place."

"My classmate Mikhail Zelensky and I decided to share our ideas about creating textbooks with elements of virtual reality," explains Mikhail Lazarev. "In our opinion, this will be part of school life very soon, and we were glad that the judges supported the inclusion of virtual reality in the educational process."

The "Young researcher" conference helps students develop their ability to form their own opinions and relate comfortably to audiences. The conference organizers believe that it also plants the seeds of desire to do scientific research in the future. 

"We congratulate the winners and are very happy that our students took first place in two categories," notes ILS Deputy Principal Marina Artemenko. "It is wonderful that our pupils got a taste of what it means to do scientific research. Our students' work becomes more serious every year with an increasingly practical orientation. I think the day is coming, and soon, when school students will use text books augmented by virtual reality, just as our students proposed."
