This year’s Game Club season has begun, with students in all 10th grade sections at ILS demonstrating their knowledge in areas such as history, geography, law, the Great Patriotic War, Russian language, literature, mathematics, information science, economics, and English language.
When preparing Game Club for 10th graders, we took into account that these students are young adults, and in the game they must demonstrate their accumulated knowledge in a variety of subjects,” explains Marina Artemenko, Deputy Principal for Science and Scholarship at ILS. “We chose the Great Patriotic War as a topic, because it is an important milestone in the history of our country, and we decided that the students should be well-versed in its events.”
During the game, the 10th graders showed their strong knowledge in a number of humanities subjects: they chose difficult and, therefore, valuable questions and intricate tasks. For example, it was necessary to discover the content of legal relations in the musical composition “Mamontenka’s Song”; recognize famous architectural monuments of Vladivostok from photos; answer the question: what is the name of the acid, 400 grams of which is formed in the body during the day; correctly correlate the dates and names of major military operations, and many other equally tricky questions.
“Many of the questions asked in the game tested our general knowledge, and I think our victory was well deserved,” says Kirill Trudov. “For example, the answer to the question: which country always participates in world football championships was obvious. Brazil, of course. Thanks to our opponents’ mistakes, we were able to get a series of correct answers.”
For 40 minutes, a combined team of students from 10th grade legal and business classes tested their knowledge against rivals from section 10M. Thanks to their quick reaction and accuracy, our future lawyers and businessmen prevailed by a final score of 320:250.
“All our students will participate intellectual competitions,” notes ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. “Game Club is an excellent way to learn a lot of new facts from different areas of knowledge. I wish all Game Club participants success!”
