ILS music teachers Vyacheslav Vedernikov and Olga Sergienko took part in two concerts by Ray Brown Jr, who performed this week at the Primorye Regional Philharmonic. For the third straight year, journalists writing for the ILS school newspaper “Fox Tales” participated in the All-Russian school newspaper competition “School Format”. This year’s categories included Best Photograph, Best UNESCO Associated Schools Article, Best Interview, Best Video- or Tele-Interview, Best Creative Piece, and Best Newspaper Design. The New York jazz quartet Ginetta’s Vendetta performed at ILS, offering the audience well-known numbers such as “Georgia on my mind”, “The girl from Ipanema” and various others. Group leader Ginetta Minichiello introduced the students all the musicians and told them about the unique brass instrument she plays – the “Little Big Horn.” More
