ILS music teachers Vyacheslav Vedernikov and Olga Sergienko took part in two concerts by Ray Brown Jr, who performed this week at the Primorye Regional Philharmonic. They joined a quintet offering favorite Ella Fitzgerald songs, as well as classics of American gospel and funk. Our teachers report that the improvisations they did with the legendary American artist filled the hall with exciting music. More

Game Club, a series of intellectual competitions, has been launched at ILS, with 10th graders as the first participants, fielding questions about history and social studies. More

Students in 9th grade sections 9M2 and 9M3 had a lesson-quest in cyber-security conducted by Maya Shalunova, who serves as assistant to Primorye Region Duma member Sergei Sopchuk. More

ILS 5th graders recently visited Vladivostok’s Arsenev Museum to see the unique exhibition “Map of Russia; milestones of history” on loan from the collections of Museums of the Moscow Kremlin. More

ILS instructor Yulia Filatova, who teaches Russian as a Foreign Language, organized a quest lesson for her students from South Korea. She and her class went to the Sedanka City shopping center not only to make purchases but also so that the students could find their way by asking those around them for help. More

Fifth graders Damir Tekiev (section 5M2,) and Yaroslav Nazorov (section 5M3) took first and second place, respectively, at the Hapkido Open Championship in Seoul, Korea. More

For the third straight year, journalists writing for the ILS school newspaper “Fox Tales” participated in the All-Russian school newspaper competition “School Format”. This year’s categories included Best Photograph, Best UNESCO Associated Schools Article, Best Interview, Best Video- or Tele-Interview, Best Creative Piece, and Best Newspaper Design. ILS students were most successful in the category Best UNESCO Associated Schools Article. More

As promised during her campaign for office, ILS Student Council President Anfisa Bogdanenko polled 8th-11th grade students of their professional preferences and 5th-11th grade students on their supplementary education choices. More

The New York jazz quartet Ginetta’s Vendetta performed at ILS, offering the audience well-known numbers such as “Georgia on my mind”, “The girl from Ipanema” and various others. Group leader Ginetta Minichiello introduced the students all the musicians and told them about the unique brass instrument she plays – the “Little Big Horn.” More

ILS students in grades four, eight and nine studying Chinese language took part in the 12th Pen Calligraphy competition organised by the Confucius Institute of FEFU, with support from Chinese Confucius institutes and the Chinese Consulate General in Vladivostok. More
