ILS joined UNESCO in celebrating International Literacy Day, with a theme this year of “Literacy in the world of digital technology”. Students in the 5th-8th grades participated in the event, with 8th graders from group 8M1 giving a presentation in English on the topic. More

ILS graduates Maria Moshchevitina and Daria Vorozhtsova are studying in two very different but very interesting professional areas. Maria is a first-year student at the University of Washington in Seattle and hopes eventually to become a doctor (neurologist). More

ILS 9th grader Anfisa Bogdanenko was the winner of Russian National Robot Olympiad and was chosen for the Russian All-Star Team in robot technology. Anfisa in now preparing intensively for the World Robot Olympiad – 2017, which will be held this November in Costa Rica, with the Russian team competing against the strongest teams from around the world. Danil Martynyuk, a 2014 graduate of ILS, returned to his alma mater for a visit on Knowledge Day. He is now studying at Simon Fraser University, Beedie School of Business (Vancouver) with a double major in Аccounting and Entrepreneurship. More

ILS students improved their results significantly at the spring session of the Cambridge exams, with 19 achieving “Excellent” and 18 receiving a mark of “Good”. More

ILS 2014 graduates Mikhail Milovanov and Aleksander Moshak recently visited our school. Today, they are students at Northeastern University in Boston, USA and Douglas College in Vancouver, Canada. More

ILS 10th graders are currently doing their summer practicum, which is a mandatory part of the CAS program. Practicum sites include the Primorye Picture Gallery, as well as Vladivostok museums and libraries. More

The ILS Russian as a foreign language competition “Russia through our Eyes” was featured by the “Russian World” Fund (Moscow). The Fund’s site posted information about the competition, including the tasks assigned to participants. More

ILS 6m1 student Vlad Yuriev has been performing this year in the historical play “The Wall” at the Gorky Academic Theater. As audiences can attest, the play features scenes with teeming masses, and one of those creating the atmosphere is our student Vlad. Vlad told us that he has participated in almost all of this year’s performances. More

The 4th issue of ILS school newspaper Fox Tales has hit the newsstands, and the paper’s editorial board says that of all the issues, this one has the most to offer. The new issue includes interviews with ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko, who provides details about the school’s plans for the coming academic year, and English teacher and English Studies Coordinator Svetlana Feshchenko, who discusses English at ILS. More

Vladivostok was among the Russian cities involved in the national event “Museum Night”, with ILS students among the participants. Aleksandr Arzamastsev (11th grade) and 9m3 classmates Yelizaveta Babina and Arina Ilchenko presented their battery recycling project at the Primorye Picture Gallery as part of the event. More

Students from ILS musical studios held a final concert, wrapping up the year on a very high note. Under the guidance of Olga Sergienko, Xu Honhyu and Vyacheslav Vedernikov, young musicians performed works by Tchaikovsky, Dave Brubeck, Kevin Olsen, George Gershwin, Joe Hisaishi, and Ennio Morricone, along with compositions by the groups Red Hot Chili Peppers and Linkin Park and up-and-coming Vladivostok composer Yakov Kalashnikov. The instrumental portion of the concert featured the group Akvarel under the guidance of Natalya Bekina; the students performed the song “The Sea” to music composed by their teacher. More

ILS held a competition for international students called “Russia through our Eyes”. Students in grades 5-11 tested their skills at listening, reading and writing. More

ILS and CAS No.2 students shared the stage at a concert, dedicated to the friendship between the schools that began at the International Children’s Jazz Festival “Pacific Fusion”. More

The educational field trip for ILS international students to St Petersburg and Novgorod gave many of the students and their parents a chance for new discoveries about Russia. ILS partner Center for Supplemental Education “Alfa-Dialogue” developed a special program for foreign students receiving education in Russia. More
