Eighth grader Anna Zhukova (section 8M1) took first place in the Vladivostok equestrian show jumping competition, clearing a height of 80 centimeters on her horse Grom.
“I’ve been doing equestrian sport since I was five,” Anna explains, “but it was only recently that I started taking part in city competitions. I began riding Grom in September, and we had a great result right away.”
According to Anna, treats have done much to help her and Grom understand each other. “Whenever I go to ride him, I give him carrots, apples, or pieces of sugar.”
Anna and Grom train from 60 to 90 minutes three times a week, which includes getting him ready to ride.
“We congratulate Anna on her victory in the city competition,” says ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. “In addition to her sports achievements, Anna is also very skilled at drawing and is particularly good at pictures with animals. We all remember the wonderful pictures of her dogs that she drew for our school exhibition. We wish Anna success in all her future endeavors.”
