Students from grades 5-8 participated in the reading.
"This year we decided to dedicate the competition to readings from the works of Alexandr Pushkin, because his verse and poems are interesting to children, as well as adults," explains jury chairm Valentina Kovaleva. "We were most impressed by the wide range of selections our students made."
Choosing the best readings was no easy task for the jury, the decisions were:
1st place - Arina Belan, section 8M2 (teacher - Galina Korotkonozhkina)
2nd place Karina Ermakova, section 5M2 (teacher - Galina Korotkonozhkina)
3rd place Bagrad Akhmetov (teacher - Galina Korotkonozhkina)
3rd place Angelina Zhandarmova, section 7M3 (teacher - Galina Korotkonozhkina)
"Poetry readings have always been an important part of our scademic year," notes ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. "Knowledge of Russian poetry, and Alexandr Pushkin's works in particular, gives our students new emotional expeiences, a deeper understanding of Russian history, and new knowledge about what Russia is."
