ILS 6th graders from sections 6m3 and 6m1 presented their parents, teachers, and fellow students with a wonderful gift as the New Year’s holidays approach: a fine performance of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.
In the days leading up the performances on December 14 and 15, the performers and producers were busy with dress rehearsals and final preparations for sound, decorations and other crucial elements of the show.
“This is serious creative work for the children involved in the show,” explains English teacher and IB program coordinator for grades 5-9, Svetlana Fedchenko. “Our audiences were treated to a full-scale stage production, for which the students not only learned their lines, but also polished every movement, every intonation.”
“Winter shows on the school stage have become a tradition,” notes ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. “Our first young actors are now upper-level university students. For the past eight years, this part of the school program has presented the school with excellent performances in English and allowed our students to develop their acting and teamwork skills. I am convinced that this sort of training helps them overcome any language barrier, no matter how many languages they choose to learn in the future.”
