Fifth graders in sections 5M1 and 5M2 visited the school psychologists’ office for their first session in the ILS Adaptation Project. The children will have several special training sessions to better acquaint them with the school and each other.
“These sessions are designed to help our students make a comfortable transition from the primary to the middle level of their school education,” explains teacher and psychologist Irina Osetskaya. “This a very challenging period for the children, and the remainder of their time as school students depends greatly on how they go through the adaptation process.”
Facing so many new things at the same time: the faculty, their classmates, and the school itself, is hard enough, and it can be particularly difficult to adapt to the individual style of each of their new teachers.
“At ILS we try to create conditions for successful study,” says ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. “One of our important tasks is to ensure the psychological comfort of each child, and that is the goal of these adaptation sessions.”
