Asian sambo champion and Master of Sport Tatyana Orel, a frequent World Cup and Russia Cup winner, visited ILS to hold a PLD (Prepared for Labor and Defense) master class for students to test their skill at various holds, movements and other elements of sambo.
“Training with non-professional athletes is particularly interesting for me, as the students react quite emotionally but always try to do their best,” says Tatyana Orel. “In my opinion, our time together was very well spent!”
“It was very interesting to find out how professional athletes train and what they focus on,” notes Nariman Novruzov.
“This PE class was lots of fun,” adds Konstantin Bondarenko. “I wish trainers like this would visit us more often.”
“PE lessons with masters of sport are an important part of our work with school students,” explains Ekaterina Korotun, who heads the Regional PLD (Prepared for Labor and Defense) Testing Complex in Primorye. “Not all students participate in sports groups, but many go hiking in Primorye’s steep and challenging mountains, testing the limits of their physical abilities. Sports training is an important part of a child’s physical development.”
