ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko and her colleague Valentina Kovaleva, who teaches Russian Language and Literature at ILS and heads the school’s International Center, participated in the Chinese-Russian pedagogical forum “One continent – one path”, which was organized jointly by Shaanxi Pedagogical University and Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The list of guests and participants from Russia included Senior Pro-Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Tatyana Kartava, Rector of Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University Sergei Bogdanov, Rector of Moscow Pedagogical State University Aleksei Lubkov, Rector of Northern Caucasus Federal University Alina Levitskaya, as well as the heads of pertinent departments from 30 leading Russian institutions of higher education. China was represented by the University of Social Sciences (Beijing), Beijing University, Beijing Pedagogical University, Beijing University of Foreign Languages, Central University of Nationalities (Beijing), Capital Pedagogical University (Beijing), Shanghai Pedagogical University, Shaanxi Pedagogical University – all in all, 28 Chinese universities took part.  

Olga Shevchenko’s report “School as a means for developing children’s intellectual and creative abilities” and Valentina Kovaleva’s “Educational projects as a means of shaping the intracultural competence of ILS students” to the “21^st century educational issues in the context of polycultural space” section inspired great interest among forum participants from Western Russia.

“Vladivostok’s unique location ensures active communication with our overseas colleagues,” explains ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. “Our cooperation with Shaanxi Pedagogical University began eight years ago, and we had a great deal to share with our colleagues from Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan and Stavropol. We showed how effective our work with Shaanxi Pedagogical University has been, thanks to the rich exchange of knowledge and experience, the joint projects we have developed, and the new opportunities we have opened for school and university students, as well as their teachers.”
