For finishing second in the Go English, Go Korean, Go Worldwide competition, 9th grader Lev Novitsky was awarded a summer English language program in the Philippines.
The competition took place in two stages. In the first stage the students wrote an essay about the importance of intercultural relations in the modern world, while the second stage involved teamwork.
"Knowing foreign languages significantly increases your opportunities for future study and choice of profession," says Lev. "I've been studying English for a long time and two years ago I added Chinese."
"In the second stage of our competition, students had to demonstrate not only their mastery of English but also their ability to work in teams," explains Daria Yakunina, who represents Korean Air in Vladivostok. "Team tasks included comparing Asian and Russian culture, with students supporting their ideas using sound arguments and explanations and showing impressive resourcefulness when solving the given tasks."
"We congratulate Lev on his well-deserved victory," says ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. "Hard work and diligence always bring good results. We believe that the Lev will handle all the tasks he faces well and we wish him new successes in the future."
