Milena Yanichkina of ILS section 6M2 and her dance partner took third place for Primorsky Region in the Sport Ballroom Dancing Championship of the Russian Far East.

Participants performed in three types of programs: Latin American, European and mixed.

“We spent a long time preparing and training, so we are very glad that we placed among the top three,” says Milena.

The dancers’ performances were evaluated by members of an 80-person judges pool, with 10-13 judges assessing each pair.

Milena was not the only ILS student to achieve strong success, as 5M1 student Zakhar Topalov and his partner took first place in the Primorsky Table Tennis Championship for Mixed Doubles under 13 years of age.

The competition was attended by young athletes from all over the region. The organizers explained that the tournament is held in order to popularize Olympic sports and improve the athletes’ skills.

The winners were awarded cups and diplomas by the Primorsky Region Ministry of Physical Culture and Sport.

“We wish to congratulate our students on their notable achievements,” says ILS Principal Olga Shevchenko. “Our school devotes special attention to sport, as it instills discipline, educates the spirit and the will, while also training physical skills. We wish our students new achievements and worthy rivals.”
