Here you will learn about the history of Russian costume and the particulars of women’s clothing in different parts of Russia in the 17th-19th centuries. You will also learn contemporary sewing skills, design particulars, and acquire an understanding of decoration in traditional Russian costume. Each adornment says something about the climate, customary activities, and level of development of various regions of Russia. Local cultural traditions played a special role in the creation of traditional costume, and we study all of this at every lesson.
